Hindu College of Education, which came into existence in July 1968, is being run by The Sonipat Hindu Educational and Charitable Society, Sonepat, one of the oldest educational societies in the northern India, working since 1914.
The college was started to meet the growing demands of the framed teachers in area, state and joining states as well. It is one of the most prominent and wanted Teacher education institution by the students seeking admission in D.Ed., B.Ed. and M.Ed. It has always strived to maintain excellent standards in the field of teacher education. A three storied building including administrative and instructional blocks has been constructed. It has spacious classrooms, well equipped laboratories managed by qualified and experienced personnel in their respective areas.
The college has a airy and spacious art and craft room, catering to the needs of art and craft education
The college has a well managed and well furnished library with latest books, magazines and journals. Its collection includes both professional as well as work on general interest.
The institution has most of other services required by the students like canteen, hostel facility for girls and a hospital with 300 beds, cycle, scooter and a car parking, photocopier etc.
Apart from this the college has facility for various indoor and outdoor games.
From the smooth functioning of the institution, various committees have been constituted under the convener ship of one senior staff member being assisted by two staff members and 2-3 students. These committees include Examination Committee, Cultural Committee, Sanitation Committee, Practice- Teaching Committee, Grievance – Redressal Committee, Admission Committee, Library Committee etc. The convener organizes meetings as and when required.
The strong research background of our faculties is helpful in enriching the teaching learning environment in the institution. The first issue bi-annual and bi-lingual nationalized general ‘Shikshan Anveshika’ has brought name to the institution. It aims to provide a platform for the exchange of information and an opportunity to research scholars to publish their research papers.
The institution has a broad vision to enhance knowledge, skills, capacities, capabilities among student teachers, in- service teachers and community members. The mission is to impart quality Teacher Education. It also tries to sensitize student teachers regarding various social issues so that they can understand their roles and responsibilities in future.Our plan for the future is to make the institution a model one for Teacher Education.
